Cardboard Box Transformed into a Useful Storage Bin

We love to turn trash to treasure and stay organized!

In this project, we are re-purposing a cardboard packaging box into an attractive and useful storage container. Since you choose the fabric it will coordinate with any décor. There are two separate pieces that are removable for easy cleaning.

We will show you how to figure what size to cut the fabric to fit any box you may have and have a downloadable calculation sheet to aid you in this endeavor. This is a simple sewing project and even the beginner can have success.

Use your new great looking storage box to tame that mess of pet toys (or kids’ toys) that are strewn all over your floor. The uses are only limited by your imagination!

Check out some of the products we like for this project including why we love our ceramic rotary cutter blades.

Going Nuts Card -Printable Version

We hope you enjoyed our last “Going Nuts” Card. If you thought about making it but don’t have an electronic cutter, we have created this printable version just for you.
We highly recommend you purchase a Cricut machine when you can. It is tons of fun!

Taking your own pictures is the ultimate source for nature images. If you unable to get the shot you want, magazines, catalogs, and old calendars make excellent sources for art work. Some libraries have book sales as fund raisers and this is our favorite source of inexpensive picture books.
You can just use ordinary scissors on this project yet we love our ceramic rotary blade for cutting. It is long lasting which saves you money AND you can use it on paper and card stock one day and then cut fabric without ever changing the blade which saves you time. Time and Money saved – what a bargain!
We also like Creative Grid rulers for their grippies that prevent slippage. We also get a lot of mileage from add an eighth and add a quarter rulers, the later is our favorite.

How to Cut SVG files with our Cricut Tutorials

Ever wanted to know how to get your Cricut to cut a file with an SVG file extension?
It is easy with this how to video that takes you through the entire process step by step. We show you how to clearly see where your cuts will be plus make size and position adjustments. This tutorial takes you through from the beginning to when you are ready to hit the cut button on your machine.

Watch the video to the end to see the bonus tip.

The abbreviation SVG stands for Scalable Vector Graphic. Basically its a type of image file. Behind the scenes, your Cricut machine uses a SVG file as a set of instructions to tell it where to make the actual cuts. Think of an SVG file as a template instead of a picture. Our above video demonstrates this with a puzzle template . Check our library often to find new svg files including a puzzle template which is coming soon.
